Founded in 2000 by international rugby enthusiasts, Attica Rugby Club has grown from a pioneering group of expatriates and Greek athletes into one of Greece’s premier rugby organizations. For more than two decades, our club has championed sporting excellence, youth development, national championships, and European rugby fraternity in Athens.

From a passionate group of South African expatriates and Greek rugby pioneers in 2000 to modern Attica Rugby

Several founding members being of South African origin, they named the emerging club after the iconic South African rugby team nickname: the Springboks. The leaping antelope embodies speed, agility, resilience, and boundless competitive energy on the field.

Paired with the historic region of Attica where the club was founded, the Aegean Sky Blue and White colors honor our host nation and proud Hellenic heritage, creating an enduring bond of unity across over 20 nationalities.

Ancient Greek symbols of defense, courage, and athletic honor earned through fair play and teamwork. They reinforce the club’s defensive spirit and dedication to our foundational S.H.I.E.L.D. code of conduct.

Two decades of memorable rugby matches, championship titles, and European tours
๐ 2000 โ Club Founding in Athens
Multinational rugby enthusiasts and South African expatriates gather in Athens to play friendly matches, laying the foundations for rugby union in Attica and formally establishing the Attica Springboks RFC.
๐ท๐ด 2007 โ European Tour & XV de Gaule
The club embarks on its first international tour to Romania to face the Bucharest Barbarians, establishing the historic annual XV de Gaule tournament tradition uniting touring clubs in Athens.
๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ 2008 โ Tour to Royston (England)
Attica travels to Hertfordshire, England for a cross-Channel test against Royston RFC, expanding international rugby ties and establishing enduring club partnerships across the UK.
๐ 2009 โ Golden Oldies Festival in Athens
A landmark veterans gathering in Athens with over 45 active veteran players, hosting touring sides from Switzerland, Israel, and the legendary New Zealand Yellow Bellies.
๐ 2011โ2013 โ Greek Championships & French Tours
The 1st XV captures consecutive Greek Rugby Union Championships. The squad tours Toulouse (France) and hosts French clubs including Piranhas du Stade, All-Pinks Paris, RocStars, and Gros Elans Grenoble.
๐จ๐พ 2022 โ Cyprus Clashes
Post-pandemic international return with bilateral touring fixtures against Limassol Crusaders in Cyprus, continuing decades of Eastern Mediterranean rugby fraternity.
๐ฒ๐จ 2024 โ Monaco Youth Tour (Sainte Dรฉvote)
The Attica Youth Academy is invited to represent Greece at the prestigious Sainte Dรฉvote International Tournament in Monaco under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Princess Charlene.
โก 2026+ โ Attica Rugby & Rugby Santรฉ
Unanimous adoption of modernized 2026 Club Statutes, Greek sports registry registration, renaming to Attica Rugby, and pioneering partnership with Les RUBieS France for oncology health rugby.

Founded in 2007, our annual invitational tournament welcomes touring sides from France, Cyprus, Monaco, and the UK to celebrate rugby camaraderie and the legendary ‘Third Half’.
